Look Twice

Look twice, react once
Don’t want mistakes
In the way I react to this.
Contemplate so as not,
To sound stupid, uninterested
Or just plain ignorant
In the words I use to describe
These diseased bio-artificial lungs
These pig lungs, so I remember.
Think twice speak once,
“I didn’t know that policemen
Worked down mines, or that just …
Maybe they used real pigs,
As cheap labour, or pasty fillings
Or contemplate simplifying my life
Into ones and zeros and only that after all
It would avoid any unwanted
Brain activity, and the net result,
Would be that I’d have the time
To look twice and react once.
